Day 25: Ticket to Someday

Hmmm...the more I look at this picture, the less I like it. That's not good. The color is off, and it looks posed. Well, because it was. I don't usually set up a photograph, but rather take pics of what I already see. Not really sure how to set up a picture that will look any good. I guess I prefer finding a photograph rather than making one happen. The candle was fun to play around with, though. I actually had a couple pics of just the candle that now I think were better than this one. Huh. Oh well. Take the bad with the good and keep on truckin'.
Something I don't think I understand yet is how you can be "inspired" as a photographer. Artists who paint, sculpt, draw, etc. are making something out of nothing. The art is in their mind, and they find a way to translate it into a medium. But with photography, I feel like the only way I could actually dictate what pictures I end up taking would be to pose a person or set up a still life shot--which is what I tried very unsuccessfully to do with today's picture. Otherwise, I feel like my photography is at the mercy of my surroundings. Yes, I can look at things differently, or shoot the same subject from a different angle or in different light, but what if I want something completely different? What if I want to figure out how to come up with the photograph in my mind and THEN make it happen?
Hey. You. I need some help here. :)
